The Cairngorms, Britain's largest National Park, is home to a wonderful variety of wildlife, from the majestic golden eagle, osprey and peregrine to the evocative red deer, mountain hare, pine marten, wild cat and otter. Photographers Peter Cairns and Mark Hamblin have spent years exploring the landscape of this unique part of Scotland, depicting not only the wild creatures and habitats of the park, but also discovering the pressures that the landscape has faced over thousands of years.
In Wild Land, we share their personal insight into man's influence on the balance of nature through an unrivalled collection of images. The authors also take a look back at the animals of Scotland's past, glance into the future of Scottish wildlife and remind us how important it is to nurture our fragile, beautiful land.

Situated in the heart of England, The Peak District National Park is home to a wide range of wildlife which thrives in its diversity of habitats. Wild Peak provides a unique insight into the fascinating natural history of Britain's first National Park, taking the reader on a journey through the seasons. The limestone-dominated White Peak contains flower-rich hay meadows, ancient ash woodlands and steep-sided dales, dotted with a profusion of wildflowers.
On the high moors of the Dark Peak, red grouse, mountain hares and emperor moths thrive amongst the heather. By late summer, these uplands are transformed into a sea of purple as the ling comes into flower. The wonderful array of wildlife photographed is complemented by personal accounts of face-to-face encounters between the author and the Park's glorious wildlife.
